The People’s Feast in Rome

Each year during the month of May, a day called the “People’s Feast” is organized in Rome. The goal is to make known the different communities in Rome that are made up of people coming from different countries.  It took place yesterday, Pentecost, at the Basilica of St John Lateran.  A Mass was held at noon, followed by the tasting of typical dishes from some of the countries.  Folk dances began at 3:00 p.m. on the platform.  And people began spontaneously to dance, forming a circle in the midst of the crowd!  Everyone was moving to the rhythm.  It was a moment of joy, encounter, and sharing.  But it began to rain, just locally, around 5:45 p.m., dispersing the crowd before the end of the program.
Those who were singing and dancing spoke the language of joy which was understood by everyone!
How many among them would resume the rhythm of a hard life the next day.
